Dominik Fuss' Rumpus, a synonym for "fuss", means athentic music from the austrian artist & composer Dominik Fuss. The internationally playing trumpet-artist and past-winner of the international Jazzsolist-Prize in Odessa (Ukraine), is celebrating the release of his first album "Ethology" in 2016. He did several recording sessions in the past years with the same sound engineer and in the same studio. It also could be named as his first "best of" album, because he carefully selected the tunes to have a destinctive musical arc over the whole album. His very personal and lyrical sound redefines his new direction of todays jazz-quintets, orientated and rooted in the spiritual side of jazz greats like john coltrane, charles mingus or brian blades fellowship band in combination with european classical composers. His main focus is melody, combined with open harmonies, within he and his fellow musicians push each other further to develop diverse atmospheres and well selected highs and lows, painting joy and desperation, frustration and acceptance, anger and laughter. |
